Why you should get fitted for clubs and not buy clubs straight off the shelf

During my past couple of years playing high school golf and halfway into college golf I have been teeing off with the Cobra F9 driver. The Cobra F9 driver is one of the best drivers I have ever hit and I completely fell in love with it. I have always struggled with hitting the ball far off the tee. That is until I got fitted for the Callaway Epic LS driver. I love this thing, I got it in a 70g stiff shaft and a 9-degree head set down to 8 degrees. The problem I had with my Cobra driver was the fact that I was not getting any roll off the tee, it would just land and stop. Another big factor in the no role is the fact that I hit the ball extremely high in the air. I feel like due to the mill grind face on the cobra driver I would get no spin. I soon come to find out that I hit 7 degrees up on the ball. Not to help that I had a 60g stiff shaft and had my driver set at 10.5-degrees. When I was getting fitted the guy who had me getting fitted was just in amazement at how much a swing up on the ball. So he had me try out a couple of drivers with heavier shafts in them. I had it narrowed down to the Callaway driver and the Ping G425 driver. I have always despised Callaway, I have always felt like they are a wannabe top golf brand. But for some reason, I liked the feel of the Callaway better. I bought the Callaway driver and was on my way just waiting to take this thing out on the course. I now average off the tee around 280-290 total yardage and around 270-275 carry. I never used to get roll off the ball and it feels great to do that now. So if you are ever thinking about getting new clubs... GET FITTED!
